Camp Roberts renovation of the active barracks. There is also a major project to tear down all the 680+ white dilapidated WW2 era barracks. All the wood and debris will be put into a newly constructed landfill on the base.

Do the old barracks still have the stoves in them? Niether the Barracks marked for demolition or those for renovation have or had stoves. The Barracks where situation with one "mesa hall building" for every (4) Barracks of 63 men. Here is the basic floor plan of a typical barracks buidling ( number of beds is a more modern layout) Here is a "then-n-now" photograph. Notice how in 1952, ten years, and the buidling were detoriating. And 56 laters they look only a little bit worse than the Korean War era status

Here is some more pictures bathrroms In addition to the renovating of the old muster barracks. And the tearing down of some 650 falling apart barracks. The Camp Roberts base is in the middle of a large building project for the future influx of military training on the new mout facilities.
