Hi all, I am curious about which of the two Soviet units of CHG are more active on the Central Coast. I work in San Luis Obispo, so I'd possibly prefer to get in contact with which ever unit is more active up here. I've been reenacting a Russian impression (La Legion Russe) with the Great War Historical Society for about 4 years and I am thinking of expanding into WW2/sheep stealing Thanks in advance,

The CHG has two fine Red Army Units, they are the 70th Guards and the 150th Rifles. They both are of comparible size. The 70th Guards members are more centrally located in Southern California. While the 150th Rifles has members spreadout. The 150th Rifles has several members in the San Francisco area and the Central Coast.
Both units work together to stage several Russian Front Battles each year.

Currently, most of the CHG sponsored Eastern Front battles are held in southern California. Two to three tacticals are sponsored each year. Also, there is a group of Russian reenactors that do events at Forest Hills near Sacramento. With the exception of a battle at Camp Roberts every other year, there are no Eastern Front battles currently being held in the Central Coast area.
Contact both units and get a feel for which one would be a better fit for you. The 70th Guards is an active unit which typically fields 14-20 members at each event.

Thanks Rick, I am not really sure what would make or break a better fit at this point, but I am primarily interested in Camp Roberts or Ozena(?!) site events.

We have dual front battles at Camp Roberts every other year. The new Ozena site might be used for the upcoming February battle. That information should be posted this week.
If you're limited to Camp Roberts and the Ozena area, you might catch one battle a year. The other sites that we utilize on a regular basis are located in the Big Bear area.
