"Wings Over Gillespie" or WOG Airshow in El Cajon, CA on June 2nd & 3rd 2012.
The unit leader of the 21st Panzer has been contacted by the board of the WOG about having a large reenactor presence at their event. The 21st Panzer, British 1st Airborne and a few other stragglers from the CHG have attended this event for the past few years.
Our set-up has been pretty good during this time but now the WOG board would like it to be bigger. They want a large showing of reenactors, vehicles and field pieces. They've told me that all nations represented are welcome. They also would like us to know that they have some financing available for hauling heavy vehicles such as tanks and halftracks to the event.
They're still in the planning phase for this event, but they have said they will provide free admission to the show and food for all reenactors that show up for the weekend.
This could be a great up and coming event for the CHG. San Diego and it's surrounding city's such as El Cajon haven't had any large public WWII reenactment in a very long time. I think this makes it sort of an untapped well for recruiting and education about the hobby of WWII reenacting.
