The German Halftrack you see at a reenactment; can you tell which ones are imposters? While none of them are originals, they have at one level or another been made to look as much as possible to a real Sdk Fz 251. Can you tell which ones are not even close to looking like an orginal?

Here is a helpful diagram which highlights several of the key attributes to help you flush out the "imposter" halftracks.

Don't forget about the 250 series.
Surprised we don't see those around in the various communities.

The SdkFz 250 Series is unique. But because none of these halftracks exist, they all must start out with a post war tatra OT-810. Since the 250 is considerable smaller in length and other features, it takes someone with money and metal skills to rebuild and reform the OT-810 into a SdkFz 250. Also the track length os shorter as well. There are out there but they are pretty rare. Here is one such example from the UK

Interesting, aways wondered if there were any floating around. More of a Armored Recon vehicle for the infantry contigents of those battalions, but they were quite numerous themselves. Wonder how many managed to actually survive.

Last I heard, the 12SS is working on a 250. I had asked John why they did not use a 222 armored car as a recon vehicle and he said that the 12th used 250s for recon and did not have any 222s...
