William Ewart Fairbairn (28 February 1885–20 June 1960) was a British soldier, police officer and exponent of hand-to-hand combat method, the close combat, for the Shanghai Police between the world wars, and allied special forces in World War II. He developed his own fighting system known as Defendu, as well as other weapons tactics. Notably, this included innovative pistol shooting techniques and the development of the Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife.

majortom: Are there Authenticity Standards on this site? A recent report from the US Authenticity Officer states that Authenticity Standards had been posted on the CHG website a month prior to the Jan 28 battle. I have been all over the site but can't find them.

PRESIDENT: If you go to the January event (or any of the events) and click on the country named in the Authenticity headline (American, in this example), it'll open a PDF file that details what was required for that event.

PRESIDENT: Not all of the countries were completed, though, as most of my Authenticity Officers (AOs) were not able to meet the deadline. The ones for American and UK/Commonwealth are current for March.
