They all look un-issued. Now they will probably be scrapped, if not issued to rebel forces. Even if so, they will eventually be destroyed.

It's amazing how 65 years later they are still finding this stuff. Internet reports say there were 5,000 of these captured by the Free Syrian Army. The fact they were captured means the Syrian government had them, and was storing them for some reason. They were found in a bunker, but really was a building. What is also funny is they have been referrred to as AK-47's in some of the news reports Other reports say there were probably 400 to 500, and the 5,000 is over estimating. Here is another video of them bringing out the weapons from the building Here is a German tank the Israelis took from the Syrians

The 400-500 would seem more realistic as it would take about 5 of those shipping containers to store 5,000 of these STG44s. Especially the way they are strewn about. I can see why they think they are AK47s, they are for the most part, its predecessor! (even though Kalashnikov denies it) During the 1st Gulf War, (I forget who it was, I think 3rd Marines) Knocked out two German Tiger tanks. I have never been able to find internet photos of them but I remember our C.O. talking about it while showing the company the captured T72 war trophy (which is now at a paint ball field )
