Hi, I just joined a few minutes ago, but I've been looking at many of the re-enactor groups. I have two questions, so please don't kill the messenger.
When was the last time the listing for WWII re-enactor groups was updated? I've been just going on a few of their sites, and the are either dead in the water, or someone has not removed their names from the group, which makes it frustrating when finding a group that is still working.
Secondly, I'm interested in the 45th Station Hospital, which has both male and female members; but when I tried to contact the owner, via her email address I get no answer. So is this group still around or have they folded up?
I hope you don't mind my complaining, but if you're going to get people to join, and the find that unit they are looking for is not working, or there are no other ways for them to contact that group, it leaves a bad taste in the prospective member.

It's unfortunate but many World War II Reenactor units/groups don't keep their individual websites current. It usually becasue they have no in their unit assinged to keep it updated. This is one of the reasons for this message board. Also these units are not own by person by rather are managed by a Unit Leader, and the rest of the members in the unit. I will pass your requested to several of the 45th Field Hospital members who collectively can take care of your interest in their unit. PS- As you will notice, on this message board you get almost instant attention

This brings me to another question. I'm interested in the Army nurses during WWII, especially the ones assigned to the Philppine Scouts and the Philppine Garrison prior to WWII. Do you know where I can find what their field uniform for nurses would look like, which would be very different from the ones in the ETO, or in the States. Since the Philippines was a tropical country, the dark OD green uniforms would have been impractical, so everyone wore Khaki's.
The time frame of my search would be between January 1935 to just around November 1941.

If you go to the CHG Website Photo Gallery, you will see among other units, the photo gallery of the 45th Field Hospital and thier various impressions. www.chgww2.net/gallery/Here is an example of a few of their members at an event Here they are at the Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade

The folks at the 45th FH can probably better explain what the nurses in the Philippines wore and did as they've been moonlighting at public events representing them. However, I did fall in with them one year (the first year they did this second impression) and learned a few things: There wasn't a field hospital assigned to the Scouts or the Philippine Division. Instead, nurses worked out of the Army Hospital in Manila. Thus, their uniforms (initially) were white nursing uniforms. When the hospital needed to be evacuated, they found themselves in the field in these uniforms. They quickly improvised and wore men's Army khakis or HBT coveralls (in the early pattern). Obviously, a lot of the uniforms were over-sized, but the nurses made do. The move was very rapid and the brought whole beds from the ward and put them in the jungle. Hope that helps. Here's a photo from that event:
