Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and would like to know which groups in the CHG take 15 year old kids interested in WW2 reenacting. My Grandson turns 15 next July, and he wants to join up.

It's a good question as not all units can take a 15 to 17 year old. What would help, is to determine if he is interested in an Allied or Axis unit.
Also what helps is if someone like yourself was to join the unit with him, so that he has someone to help with getting him to events, and planning ahead for things.

You can find the current rules in our bylaws on this website, but there are issues of power of attorney and gardianship when you lend a weapon to a minor. Without a relative there to attend the event it may not happen until he turns 18.

I thought about joining up to tag along and keep an eye on him, but I'm not ready to shave my beard (I currently do an ACW impression), however I've been in touch with one of your Soviet Army members who's checking into the possibility of allowing "Partizans" to take arms at events.

One thing to keep in mind with doing a partisan impression is it is only allowed at some events. Also depending on what "scenario country" the event is being placed in the clothing and rifle may be different.
The next issue is there are no officially recognized partisan CHG units or groups. As such when a partisan impression is allowed at a particular event, it has to be organizied from members of other units, and someone has to be willing to lead and be responsible for the group.

I kinda figured it would limit the events we could attend, but at least it'll get my Grandson's foot in the door of WW2 reenacting. I'll be contacting the big bugs from the 150th Soviet to see if this idea can get off the ground.

Ron, If you are and your grand son are interested in going G.I., the 2nd Infantry Division will gladly take a person 15 years of age with the proper necessary paper work and accompanying guardian. We also have plenty of loaner gear if he is not yet kitted. We have new recruits that are his age, so he will not feel out of place. Feel free to brows our web site and forum if you are interested. You may contact me on our forum, or send me an email at Farrell_Fox@yahoo.com www.2ndidmanchus.com/www.2ndidmanchus.org/

Thanks for the invite, although I've been doing American Civil War reenacting so long I'd feel naked without my whiskers. I'll need some time to think about it, and my Grandson doesn't turn 15 until next July, so that should give me plenty of time to see which side he's most interested in joining.

Some of our members retain a regulation moustache, though not quite the General Lee or Grant. Please feel free to contact me if you decide on the 2nd Infantry.
