Here is an up-date on the event - dates have now been established April 12-14 2013 Desert Battle.
At this event Heavy armor is welcomed. Tanks, half tracks any type vehicle we wish can be used however the heavier vehicles should stay on the road works as much as possible and there are many roads to drive. We lay-ed out our vision of the battlefield to utilize a relatively flat large area as to accommodate large vehicles.
The battlefield also has hills, brush, rocks roads and river beds to use. Jeeps and light trucks may do some offroading but lets not tear up the place. We can have fires in fire rings but we cannot bring wooden pallets or any wood with metal objects in them, it is against the law. We must also carry out any trash we produce. We have established Allied and Axis camp areas.
The parking of personal vehicles: this will be rather far from our camps but not to far. If you are trailering a jeep or light truck you should have no problem driving it right to your camp however heavier vehicles should be dismounted at "H" park and driven in. Once you fine your camping area drive your vehicle to "H" park and we will set up sort of a shuttle service although it is not that long of a walk.
I and several others will be at site on the Thursday of the event to help you. We will be making many signs and we will make it as easy as possible. As we get closer I will give group leaders my cell number (there is cell coverage there) and we can keep in touch that way. The date for the battle will be nailed down this week but I would plan on March 9 and 10. The title of this battle is "Battle for Tunisia the Defense of Fuel Depot X" more on this later but this goes along with the idea of time not necessarily a specific battle. More to follow.
