We will be returning to Holcomb Valley for a Normandy scenario. While there is a small road network, this site is primarily a foot soldier's fight. Excellent tree cover and the higher altitude should keep the temperatures mild.
When the event draws nearer, we will determine the fire danger and restrictions and disclose if having a campfire in the designated fire rings is permitted.

This event will be Normandy, D+10, no town or area specified. USDF has suspended fire permits to Holcomb Valley until further notice due to the dry conditions. No fires in the fire rings, no mortars, rockets, smoke grenades or barbeques. Enclosed kerosene lanterns, propane stoves and gas powered generators are ok. The ranch's manager has expressed interest in cooking meals in the camp's kitchen as they did last time. Meals including a drink were $5 a plate (and were very good!). Potable water is available at the main buildings but may not be available at the camping areas. Be sure to bring potable water. I used a 5 gallon water can filled with ice and water bottles. (if you don't have a clean can). There is a shower building for those who wish to shower. Bring your own food as well, even though the ranch has offered to cook things often occur and it may not happen. This is a Boy Scout Camp. Reasonable attempts should be made to keep alcoholic beverages out of site. Alcoholic containers should leave with you, and not be tossed in the ranch trash cans.
The weather is expected to be mild (68) during the day and cool at nights (32). Inclement weather is unlikely this time of year. The roads in have been nicely manicured and maintained. The site is limited on military vehicle use but MVs are welcome and subject to authenticity and safety inspections. POVs are to be in the parking lot and not parked over night at the camp sites.
The boundary is the barbed wire fence. Beyond that fence is BLM land and we do not have permission to enter that area. Forces attacking the ranch buildings must approach from the open field or dirt road. Forest Rangers may become alerted to the small arms fire. If they show up, cease fire and wait for them to depart. They may check your ammunition as they are actively patrolling for poachers. They are usually nice and polite and do not stick around very long.
Plans for this event are extensive and should keep everyone busy the whole weekend. They will be announced at Saturday line up. Should be quite fun!

Ask Dave P Randy. He is the one who usually does it.
