The PTO battle is only a week away. Camp Trask in Monrovia, directions available on the Events page.
Some basic rules, propane stoves are ok for cooking, but NO open fires, NO charcoal or BBQ's. The USDF has revoked the fire license for the area due to the dry fire conditions. However if you don't feel like cooking downtown is only five minutes away and local restaurants are very good there. There is also a Walmart and Home Depot very close by.
You might want to bring a small broom if you plan on sleeping in the tents that are available on site. There are quite a few permanent tents set up on wood platforms with two bunk beds each in them but there are also a lot of spiders from what I was told. A can of raid or a good sweeping ought to take care of that.
The site is really to small for period vehicles, there is only one loop road that covers the entire area. We plan on being on foot for the battle, I am not bringing my jeep this time as my van should be more than adequate for what we need. ALL VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED TO BE BACKED INTO THE PARKING SPACES so should there be a fire they can be exited quickly from the campground. More on that at Line up.
Line up at 9am on Saturday. Early arrivals can be there Friday at 1pm unless otherwise instructed.
THERE ARE BEARS and lots of local wildlife. Keep all food OUTSIDE and away from your sleeping quarters. Bears make lousy bed partners. Last time I was there they told us to keep food in our cars. Our past experience showed us that will only deter the bears for a short time before they eat your car.
I still have plenty of loaner equipment and some rifles. If you need blanks you better call Joe Swanson ASAP. There will NO blanks available on site.
That's about it for now. Will update if I hear more.
