Our club will be holding a large scale reenactment at Camp Roberts in October. Scenario set to be in the ETO, actual scenario detail TBD. We anticipate being garrisoned in barracks for this event.
As usual, this event is open non-CHG members. However, if you are a non-member, please contact one of our existing units to fall in with for accountability purposes and so that you are in the loop on all communication and event details. If your whole unit would like to attend, please make contact with myself or an existing CHG unit you'd like to link up with.
Stand by for more details in the following months!

Great news! I've gotta ask the question, though - Any word on if armor and other vehicles will be restricted to the road network?
Thanks, Don

The site we are going to is able to handle armored vehicles and I was given no restrictions regarding their use when I scouted the location. I definitely expect them to be present, but we will discuss how they will impact the flow the battle as this site is new to us.

Who told you that? Camp Roberts staff themselves? Because your information is contrary to what I spoken directly to their staff about. If you're not getting your information first hand from their staff about our specific event, I would prefer you didn't post it here.

I have read what the RPS has posted for their April event and what you've posted on other forums. Even though the base has not brought this up to us in our pre-planning, it's not a surprising rule since this was implemented at FIG years ago and we've already come up with contingency plans. However, what the RPS has negotiated or implemented for their event is for their event, not ours. We may end up having the same rules implemented, but I will not use second-hand information to make plans for my club. I will wait until the base provides me the information we need. We haven't even hit the 6 month mark to our event, which is when I am due to speak with the base staff.
Please let us plan and run our event on our own. You're not a current member and you obviously harbor a hate for this club. I don't go onto the RPS site trying to ask questions and harass them in attempt to ruin their day. I respect that club. I don't understand why you can't respect ours.

Will there be a swap meet as in the past?

Hi, Juan. I anticipate having a swap meet. We've requested the same amount of buildings as we've done in the past. If renovations are not complete in the buildings we've requested (as they weren't during my last visit), we can always find an optional spot and host it there. This club is very adaptable and the swap meet has always been a favorite past time of ours. Definitely mark this on your calendar as we'd love to have you (and your products!) there. As the date draws closer, I will have more details to give out.
If any other vendors are interested in vending at our swap meet, please let me know! Our events at Camp Roberts have fetched 200-300 reenactors in the past.

Your event is in April, which is the rainy season and probably why Roberts told you no tracked vehicles. CHG event is in October. CHG President had the foresight to secure a month with favorable average weather conditions which would allow for heavy M.V.s.

That is a good possibility, since in my discussions with them they had asked we stick between the months of May through October as it is dryer then. I chose October as we already have events set up for the first half of the year and it is too darn hot during June-August!
We will see what they say as our event is not quite 6 months out yet and they typically don't have answers for me until about the three month mark. I will try and get as much info from the base as possible before our next meeting.

Attended the RPS battle and here are how things went.
Check in at the north gate (south gate is closed for renovation) and register firearms, just as we have done in the past. Turn around, take weapons and ammo to the battle site where they are parked under a tree under RPS member guard. There are no security gates on the east side. Then head to barracks.
Barracks: No hobnails on the new epoxy floors. No cooking in or near the barracks. Bathrooms are completely refurbished New beds with metal drawers underneath and new larger lockers Bed/locker lay out is changed; beds moved 2' out from walls and lockers are now at the foot of the beds, leaving only about 5' of space between the lockers on either side of the center aisle Electronic device charging station on lower floor
Battlefield No vehicles were allowed for this battle. No idea why this was the case. Large open fields and narrow canyons with trees. Opinion: suitable for smaller battles. Larger battles will be a challenge.
Tim
Edit: Forgot one major new rule: absolutely no alcohol allowed on the base.

Is there any word on the scenario yet? If it's D-Day, my guys would like to take the field at approximately 0400hrs in a mock night jump. If it's Sicily or Italy, depending on the scenario, we would like to do a mock parachute jump. I know Holland is probably a no go due the fact that it excludes US Armor and regular Infantry.

I believe we are shooting for a more open D+? Scenario. Theoretically, you could still be separated, but I am not certain the site will be able to support this action as it is not as wide and as open as Tango Uniform.
